The Bichon Havanais is a sturdy little dog, low on the limbs, with long, abundant, fluffy and preferably wavy fur. Its movement is lively and elastic.
History
This breed originates from the western Mediterranean region and developed along the Spanish and Italian coastal regions. It would appear that these dogs were originally imported to Cuba by long-time Italian captains. Erroneously, the most frequent Havana color in these dogs (tobacco, red-brown), has given rise to the legend according to which the breed originates from Havana, the capital of Cuba. Political events, however, have led to the total disappearance of the lines. of Havanese blood in Cuba; some descendants, who have managed to smuggle out of the country, survive in the U.S.A.
Behavior / Character Exceptionally bright, he is easy to train as a “wake up”. Affectionate, cheerful in nature, he is friendly, charming, playful and even a bit of a clown. He loves children and plays tirelessly with them.
